Overview

Pathpoint allows insurance agents to mix and match general liability and property coverages to provide competitive packages for their convenience, grocery, beer, wine, and liquor store risks.


Available Classes

  • 90739 Convenience Stores – No Gas Station, Car Wash or Restaurant

  • 13673 Grocery Stores

  • 10145 Beverage Stores – Liquor or Wine

  • 10146 Beverage Stores – Soft Drinks or Beer


Ineligible Classes/Operations

  • Automobile repair or service

  • Car wash

  • Commercial cooking

  • Gasoline sales

  • Pharmacy

  • Pool hall

  • Public showers

  • Restaurant, bar, or nightclub

  • Sale of firearms, ammunition, or fireworks

  • Consumption of alcohol on premises (other than tastings/samplings)

  • Security guards on premises


Coverages

  • General liability up to $1M/$2M

  • Property limits up to $3.3M TIV per location/$5.6M per policy

  • Property up to $10M TIV in AL, GA, FL, LA, MS, SC, and TX

  • Products-completed operations included up to $2M

  • Premiums start as low as:

    • $250 for monoline property (contents only)

    • $495 general liability

    • $845 package

Common FAQs

What operations do you allow with any convenience, grocery, or beer/wine/liquor store?

  • We accept stand-alone beverage stores, grocery stores, and convenience stores that meet the listed definitions above and do not have other operations, such as:

    • Automobile repair or service

    • Car wash

    • Gasoline sales

    • Pharmacy

    • Public showers

    • Restaurant, bar, tavern, or nightclub / commercial cooking

Why are gas stations and car washes not eligible?

  • Appetite and coverage for gas stations and car washes have limitations with current carriers that we are working to address – with new class codes going live every month, we hope to provide solutions in the near-future!

Can you write grocery stores with other stores or banks inside of them?

  • Grocery stores with other operations within them are ineligible.

Are operations with ATMs or lottery machines accepted?

  • Yes, we can consider stores with ATMs and lottery machines.

Why are restaurants not eligible?

  • One of our future updates will allow us to integrate our Restaurant vertical with Retail & Services. At this point, stores with restaurant operations / commercial cooking will be eligible to quote. Until then, eligibility is limited to stores with no restaurant operations / commercial cooking exposure.

Can you write stores with parking lots?

  • Yes, stores with parking lots are eligible.

How are convenience, grocery, and beverage stores rated?

  • All stores are rated based on gross sales, with a max of $3 million per location.

Can you write stores with arcade, video game, or slot machine exposures?

  • Yes, we can consider them as long as they are incidental.

Do you accept operations with delivery services?

  • We will accept stores that work with third-party delivery services such as DoorDash. Stores that run delivery services on their own are not eligible.

Will you write stores that are open 24 hours?

  • Yes, we can consider them; however, they will be referred.

Can you consider stores that manufacture and sell products under their own label?

  • Yes, we can consider them. Beverage stores that are open 24 hours a day will be referred.

Does Pathpoint offer liquor liability?

  • No, Pathpoint is not a market for liquor liability.

Is on-site consumption of alcohol allowed?

  • No consumption of alcohol on premises (other than tastings/samplings) is allowed.

Do you require ID scanners for stores?

  • No, we do not require ID scanners.

Do you write stores selling CBD or cannabis?

  • Incidental sale of CBD, tobacco, cannabis, or tobacco or cannabis-related products eligible

Is liquor liability required before quoting?

  • No liquor liability is needed before quoting for stores selling alcohol.
