How soon are refunds issued after a cancellation?

Edited

There are two refund processes: one for insured-requested cancellations, and another for all other cancellations. Our primary goal is to return funds promptly and efficiently, regardless of the reason for cancellation or payment method. All refunds will be handled through our payment processing partner Ascend. For questions regarding cancellations and refunds, you can contact your Service Representative.

Insured Requested Cancellation

If an insured requests a cancellation, we will issue the refund immediately. The funds will go back to the designated entity.

For example, PathPay Agency agencies will receive the payment directly, while agents using PathPay Insured, the insured will get their refund directly.

If the payment was handled by a third-party premium finance company or another specified recipient, the funds will be sent to them directly. We prioritize returning these funds quickly.

All Other Cancellations (Not Insured-Requested)

For all cancellations other than those directly requested by the insured, we will issue the refund thirty (30) days after the cancellation date. This includes cancellations due to non-payment, non-renewal, underwriting issues, or other reasons.

The 30-day waiting period begins from the later of the following two dates:

  • The effective date of the cancellation, or

  • The date we processed the cancellation in our system.

After the waiting period, the refund will be sent to the designated entity (insured, agency, third-party financier, etc.) through our payment partner, Ascend. If you have questions, please reach out to your dedicated Service Representative.
